Description

LISTEN to the interview

Reg Hall discusses his diverse musical background, introduction to Irish music, and involvement in the Irish music scene in post-war London. He was one of the few English people who participated and also one of the few to cross over between it and the folk revival. His interest led him to undertake a PhD on the history of Irish music in London, which has made him an authority on the subject. In the interview the perspective from which he speaks occasionally alternates between that of participant and academic. His own interviews with Irish musicians in London, conducted for his PhD research, are available from the British library sound collections.
